GFT implements the expansion of STAMPIT WEB on behalf of Deutsche Post.

Franking of letters and DHL parcels now also possible, regardless of the marketplace

St. Georgen, 4 October 2005 – GFT Technologies AG, the leading European provider of innovative IT solutions has implemented the expansion of the web-based franking solution STAMPIT WEB on behalf of Deutsche Post. The franking solution STAMPIT WEB, introduced in February 2005, was expanded to facilitate the franking of letters and DHL shipments independently of the marketplace. The STAMPIT HOME and STAMPIT BUSINESS software packages that have become established on the market for PC-based franking of DHL parcels are also being expanded.

Letters, parcels and packages can now be franked round the clock via the Internet. The postage is quickly and easily printed out via the online franking solution STAMPIT WEB on your own PC. Deutsche Post and DHL are thus setting a new global standard in the franking of shipments. Following eBay sellers’ ability to frank letters since February with STAMPIT WEB and national DHL parcels since July, the service is now available to all customers at www.stampit.de. STAMPIT WEB is thus the first integrated franking solution from letters to parcels that has been designed and launched onto the market by a post and express company itself.

As with the previous versions, GFT was also responsible for the technical implementation of STAMPIT WEB. Since the start of the “Internet Stamp” project in 2000, GFT has been Deutsche Post’s strategic IT partner for the implementation of the technology that STAMPIT is based on and which also forms the basis for STAMPIT WEB.

Registration is free for all potential customers who register for STAMPIT WEB by 30 October 2005. From November, registration is possible for a one-off registration fee of three euros.

In parallel to STAMPIT WEB, DHL parcels can also be franked with the CD-based new versions, STAMPIT BUSINESS 3.0 and STAMPIT HOME 2.0. The versions that have been extended with parcel franking functions are available at the same price from 4 October in Deutsche Post’s branches or in the e-branch and from authorised retailers. Anyone who is already a customer of STAMPIT BUSINESS will receive the new version via an automatic software update directly via the Internet.

The online franking of parcels is possible for all shipments within Germany and Europe, while letters can also be sent to destinations outside Europe. STAMPIT and the DHL website www.dhl.de also offer shipment tracking for DHL parcels. With STAMPIT WEB, the postage is printed together with the recipient’s address onto labels or directly on the envelope. All that’s required is a conventional PC with printer and Internet Explorer 5.5 or 6.0 as the web browser. The ability to access the service using other Internet browsers is gradually being phased in over forthcoming months. The free Adobe Reader Version 6.02 and later is required as additional software. Following online registration, postage can be purchased and loaded into the virtual postage wallet. The sum is debited from the user’s bank account by direct debit. With each franking operation, the cost of postage is then subtracted from the postage wallet.
